College basketball should follow the ladies lead
If you’ve been watching any of the 24 hours of consecutive live college basketball on ESPN, you would have noticed a couple things: the UConn women’s basketball team looks as dominant as ever, and the women’s college game now plays by some different rules than the men’s game. Continue reading
The NBA Draft Lottery: Where Tanking Pays Off
As four teams prepare to play in the conference finals the rest of the teams get their first look at what is in store for the upcoming offseason. The NBA Draft Lottery is being held tonight (8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN) and the 14 teams who did not make the playoffs get their moment in the spotlight. Continue reading
Kentucky/Wisconsin: Living up to the Hype (and why Baseball Can’t)
As the 2015 NCAA National Championship game is about to tip between Wisconsin and Duke, I can’t help but feel a little bad for Kentucky. I also can’t help but feel a little bad for baseball. The last weekend of the regular season featured the greatest rivalry in college sports, but it was this Big Ten matchup that made it feel like the conference tournaments had already started. Continue reading
The Mudiay Effect
As I watch No. 21 SMU Mustangs play the unranked, defending National Champion Connecticut Huskies on this snowy Sunday in Connecticut I can’t help but think about how good this Mustang team would have been if their top recruit decided to go to college. I also can’t help but think about how this talented UConn team is going to miss the NCAA Tournament barring some crazy American Athletic Conference Tournament run, and part of me thinks that winning the conference tournament is very possible (where have we seen a UConn team do that before). Continue reading
Preparing Yourself for the Madness
Selection Sunday is three weeks away and I have to admit I have not watched as much college basketball this year as I would liked. Come March 15 the entire sports world will be a buzz about which teams made the tournament, and which teams bubbles’ burst. Continue reading
