Let’s reset the scene from this past weekend in the National Football League. Philadelphia needed to win one more game than their division-rival Dallas Cowboys with two games remaining to make the playoffs and win he NFC East. The Philadelphia Eagles lost (for the third time in as many weeks) to the Washington Redskins late Saturday afternoon, 27-24.
The Eagles were then eliminated from the playoffs when the Cowboys steamrolled over the Indianapolis Colts, 42-7, just 24 hours later. Philly never even gave Dallas a chance to hand the Eagles the division in the last week of the season, and never put the end-of-season pressure on Dallas that they had struggled to handle the past three seasons.
